Bewitched By Orchids

This is my journey with orchids. Although I’ve ben growing and caring for orchids for nearly 2 years, I will try to catch up to where I am in the next several weeks 🙂  I started with 2 NOID (no id) phals from the grocery store. They were gorgeous and this started my desire to learn how to care for them properly and help them thrive. To be honest, my husband and I had one before that but it almost died as we knew very little about how to care for it. It’s still alive amazingly despite our ignorance and its near death but I have since learned enough to rehabilitate it.

I know YouTube videos are the big thing right now but I’m not comfortable making videos. I do watch several YouTube hobbyist’s videos. It’s a great format but I also like to read the articles and stories people post on websites. So, if you can do without videos, I hope you’ll enjoy following me on my blog.

The fall of 2019, I discovered orchid shows and my life with orchids was changed forever. I was in love! So many beautiful plants and flowers and I wanted everything. I do show restraint though. I now evaluate possibilities and choose a couple favorites. I have learned to limit myself to plants that are suitable to my growing conditions and also ones that offer something unique to my collection. I also limit the amount I’m willing to spend on any one plant. I am still learning and would hate to kill off an expensive plant that I don’t know how to care for very well yet.
